This weekend I played a lot with my family. On Sunday, all in one day, we ran, played soccer, tennis, basketball, and even swam at the REC. On Saturday I helped coach Spencer's soccer game and then went the the ASU football game. I helped pass out recycling bags for a while and then went the game. It is pretty pathetic how much trash is left behind after the game both inside and outside the stadium. Other than that the only greening I participated in was the usual lifestyle behaviors I have incorporated over the years.
I feel like it is about time for something a little more creative. More on this latter......

I am looking forward to our first FYS out of class activity today. We will be hiking through the woods up to the Broyhill to check out the wind turbine.
So today I rode my bike to work which has my newly installed seat which I found in Boone. It was laying on the side of the road for days, so I decided it would be better off replacing my torn seat. I plan to go to the Wed farmers market today, and in the mean time I will be searching for some new innovative greening strategies.

So I am trying to think of some innovative greening activity that I did over the weekend, and nothing much comes to mind. I ran a lot, actually five miles Friday/Saturday and 10 miles on Sunday so that was fairly non obtrusive to the planet. I did however use electricity to charge my i- pod. Saturday I drove to Greensboro and back in one day so that was not very green. Saturday I also used my car to retrace my run to see how far one of my loops was so that was not to green either. I did go to the farmer's market on sat and cooked with the vegetables I bought. Besides that I did the usual like turning off the lights while leaving bathrooms on campus and using www.blackle.com as my web search engine. Oh, I know, I downloaded a font which uses 20% less ink when printing from http://www.ecofont.eu/ecofont_en.html. Until later.........

Day 3
Today I went for a run and got bit by my neighbors dog. Not a great start of the day. After eating homemade granola, I walked to work. Hopefully the day will improve and I won't get rabies:(
I kind of have a headache so this is it for now......

Day 2
Day two with my Green Living Blog. I want to point out that there is no clear cut definition of "green living." Each has there own take, and what I write here are obviously my perceptions of how I attempt to live green.
Today I ate well again and rode my bike to work.

Day 1 Green Living
This blog is going to be a place where I will share ideas, thoughts, experiments, etc about green living. I set it up as a result of a First Year Seminar class I am teaching at Appalachian State University called Contemporary Green Living: Life Choices For Sustainability.
Today's green moments as of this post: ran this morning, walked to work, vegetarian breakfast and lunch (brought my lunch), recycled office paper........
